What you actually get for nothing
The free consultation is not a sales meeting with a slide deck. It is a working review. Bring your most recent business or personal return and, if you have employees, a sample payroll register. We read both, ask questions about how you pay yourself and how the books are kept, and tell you what we would change.
You leave with a short written summary and a flat quote for anything we recommend. If the answer is that your current setup is fine, we say that, and you have a free second opinion.
The questions we are answering
A useful evaluation covers four things, and most owners have never had all four looked at together.
- Is the entity right? Sole proprietorship, partnership, S corporation and C corporation produce very different results at the same profit level.
- Is owner compensation set correctly? For S-corp owners this drives payroll tax, retirement capacity and audit exposure at once.
- Are the books good enough to make decisions from, or only good enough to file from?
- Is anything being missed on the return? Retirement contributions, accountable plan reimbursements, depreciation elections and credits are the usual finds.
Bringing your last return is the fastest path
A prior-year return is a dense document. It tells us entity type, revenue, margin, owner compensation, depreciation posture, and which schedules are in play, all in a few minutes of reading. It is far more useful than a description of the business.
If you do not have it handy, that is fine. We can work from a P&L and a payroll summary, or just have the conversation and follow up.
