Your return, prepared once. Reviewed line by line. Filed without a scramble.
We prepare corporate, partnership and individual returns with published fees, so you know the cost before we start. Business returns start at $900. Standard individual returns start at $250.
Published fees, so the invoice is not a surprise
Very few accounting firms publish their tax preparation fees. We do, because the single most common complaint business owners have about their previous accountant is an invoice they could not predict. A 1120, 1120S or 1065 is $900. A standard individual 1040 is $250. Every schedule that might attach to your return has a listed price, so you can add up your own return before you ever call us.
The one variable is recordkeeping. If your books require reconciliation before a return can be prepared, that work bills at $150 per hour, and we estimate the hours and tell you the number before we start. That is the honest version of the disclaimer every firm has but few state out loud.
Every return gets a second set of eyes
Returns are prepared by our tax staff and reviewed before signature. Carol Overmyer brings fifteen years of preparation experience and runs her own business, so she reads a Schedule C the way an owner does. Mike VanAbbama is a CPA with a background in quality assurance and cost segregation, which is exactly the temperament you want on a review pass. Russ handles the strategy layer for business owners and trust filings.
The practical effect is that returns leave here having been read twice by two different people with different instincts. That catches the depreciation election nobody flagged and the 1099 that never made it into the file.
What we prepare
Corporate returns on Form 1120 and 1120S, partnership returns on Form 1065, and individual returns on Form 1040 with any combination of schedules. Schedule C for sole proprietors, Schedule E for rental and pass-through income, Schedule F for farm operations, Schedule D for investment sales, and Schedule SE for self-employment tax.
Michigan state filing is included at no additional charge and is completed by default, since it derives from the federal return. Additional states carry a $75 processing fee. City and local returns, which catch a lot of Grand Rapids and Walker filers off guard, are $35 each.
Filing is the last step, not the whole relationship
A return is a record of decisions you already made. If the only time you talk to your accountant is when the return is due, every opportunity to change the outcome has already passed. For business clients we pair preparation with quarterly estimates and a year-end review in the fall, while there is still time to act.
If you are shopping for a new preparer, bring last year's return to a free review. We will tell you what we would have done differently, and whether it is worth the change.
