QuickBooks Online is capable software that most businesses use badly, and that is not really the owner's fault. The setup wizard produces a generic chart of accounts, the bank feed cheerfully auto-categorizes transactions into the wrong buckets, and nobody ever reconciles. Two years later the P&L is fiction and the balance sheet has an undeposited funds balance that nobody can explain.

Setup done for your industry
A construction company and a restaurant should not have the same chart of accounts. Contractors need job costing that ties to the P&L. Restaurants need food cost and labor cost visible as percentages of sales. Churches need designated fund tracking that generic account lists cannot represent.
We build the chart of accounts around what you actually need to see monthly, connect bank, credit card and merchant feeds, configure sales tax, and wire payroll in so the wage and tax entries post correctly rather than as a lump journal entry nobody reconciles.
Cleanup and migration
Historical cleanup means reconciling every account through every open period and closing them. It bills at $150 per hour and we estimate the hours before starting, because the honest answer for a file that has not been reconciled in two years is that it takes real time.
Desktop to Online migration is a separate project with its own pitfalls, mainly around inventory, payroll history and custom reports that do not exist in the online product. We tell you before the migration which of those you will lose and what the replacement is, rather than after.
Training the person who actually uses it
The most valuable hour in a QuickBooks engagement is usually training, and it should be with the person doing the daily entry, not just the owner. We run live screen-share sessions in your file, with your transactions, because generic training does not stick.
After that, ongoing ProAdvisor support keeps it clean. A monthly review catches drift before it turns into another cleanup project.
